Themes: work, cityscape

A colorful neighborhood scene depicts the sun setting over what seems like a summer evening with blue skies and lively streets. A man pushing a cart looks like he is calling out “Paletas!” to the potential customers lining the sidewalks, and kids play on bicycles nearby. The design on his belt buckle reads “Pilsen Cellular,” a thoughtful detail and a clever way to display the name of the local business that commissioned this work.

The mural contains a few elements that characterize its location as Pilsen. For example, the train and its bridge tower above the streets in the distance, and a street sign on the top right depicts the intersection of “Cermak” and “Paulina,” real streets in the neighborhood. A small gray Chicago skyline is pictured on the right side of the path.
